[ale] easy first distro for a non-linux person?

Definitely SuSE with a second on Mandrake in my opinion for a first shot.
I looked at Gentoo and found several kernels available for different
needs. That is really cool. So if I want bleeding edge hardware
support there is a kernel for me. If you want a stable traditional well
tested kernel then it is there. If you want a gaming kernel tuned for
preemptive multitasking, you can have that. It is not for newbies or
people who want GUI's with scripts for management but it sure is
configurable and easily updateable.
