I don't think so, but I've not studied the differences between the piii 
and p4.  I've just checked out the kernel compile options and there are 
separate choices for the piii and p4, so I'm not sure what your chances 
might be.

Generally, upgrading a processor will not cause problems as a kernel for 
an older processor will (generally) work with a new generation 
processor, it just might be missing some of the goodies associated with 
the new processor.

If you've still got support coverage for SuSE, drop them an email and 
ask them.
