the mac is an excellent laptop and it has bsd which essentially is linux.
after all bsd/linux/unix is just one big family :D anyways its a real
pretty frilly os AND if you open a console you get the familiar back end
of bsd :D sadly when i used my gf's i couldnt get ls to display in colors
:( but that could have been the shell i was using as i didnt check. once
you mature in the *nix relm and are ready you could then install a
powerful linux distro like gentoo, debian, yellowdog, etc :D just a
thought. the mac is high quility hardware and bleeding edge for a very
competative price, actually much cheeper! but it wont run windoze games
very well from what i hear :( pc and windoze emulators are out there.
anyways just my 2 cent
