[ale] RW on an ISO filesystem?

I've been told I can mount an ISO image and change files on it but I've
never had any luck.  Here's what I have:

/dev/loop6 on /usr/opt/Knoppix type iso9660 (rw)

{0}:/usr/opt/Knoppix>touch foo

{1}:/usr/opt/Knoppix>ls -la

Anyone have any ideas off the top of their heads?
