[ale] [OT] Inside A U.S. Election Vote Counting Program

The CSIS Dept. here at KSU was responsible for overseeing the electronic
voting here in GA. After all the discussion and links, a presentation
on electronic voting from a security and open source viewpoint might be
in order at a ALE-NW meeting sometime in the future. I could make sure
it was publicized properly. I am sure that a pro con unbiased approach
would be quite interesting to students, faculty, and ALE'rs. I sure
don't trust the process or the overseers for the long run. I know that
the guys here at KSU worked themselves to death trying to make sure
everything was in order. I can trust them. But, how can I trust
vendors or politicians to do the right thing if tempted with options
that are too easy and hidden as well? Either it must be completely open
or it's not useful at all. There is no way to control the process if it
isn't open. There are always some people who will try to bend the
system to their will and you can't have overseers over overseers ad
infinitum....
