MythTV works in the same fashion as a ReplayTV. It takes it's input from
the V4l device. It encodes this input to a file, then decodes it back
through the TV (video card). Since the input and output are separate
processes, you get the ability to pause live tv, record live tv while
watching a prerecorded show, record while not watching anything, etc...
