[ale] Nextel Saga continues, weirdly

Ok, While thinking over the weekend I realized one difference between
my perl script and my shell/web browser. The perl script wasn't using
my proxy server (192.168.1.9). When I did a
"@ENV{'http_proxy'}=192.168.1.9:3182" in the script and tried it, bingo,
page went through. If I unset the variable in my shell it fails there.

Summary:
From my firewall (192.168.1.1 and public ip for www.rdlg.net) I can
not connect directly to messaging.nextel.com (any ports) but I can
www.nextel.com. If I bounce my traffic off my proxy server first
(192.168.1.9) and then back out the firewall it works just great.

If I connect directly from my proxy server (lynx or even telnet port 80)
or even my desktop (192.168.1.3) WITHOUT bouncing off the proxy server
straight through the firewall I can connect just fine.

Any connections that don't bounce off a 192.168.1/24 addr fail while
any that do work just great.

Ummm, anyone got any ideas? This is bizaare. A friend of mine testing
from a DSL line in Atlanta is see'ing the exact same behavior...

Robert
