[ale] Remote X and Mozilla Profile Behavior

As it happens, I'm "ssh -X"ing from RH to Mandrake, and the UIDs/GIDs
are 500/500 and 501/501 respectively. So, you may be right, but what's
throwing me for a loop is, how does the remote Mandrake machine even
*know or care* what UID/GID I have on the local RH machine??
I know that when I ssh -X like this, I'm only asked for a password and
not a username, so I assumed that the local ssh was passing the local
username (but not GID/UID) to the remote sshd. And, when I do ssh -X
<remote_machine_ip> and supply the password on the remote machine, if I
type "id" I see "uid=501(jeff) gid=501(jeff) groups=501(jeff)" just like
I would if I log on at the remote machine's own console.
Now, is it possible that Mozilla is looking at UID, GID, *and* display
number to determine identity for profile purposes? That's not the
default behavior I might have picked.
