[ale] recovering an ext3 drive

that's wierd.  Are you sure it's being mounted?  df shows all the disk 
is available.

I still believe you'll have a hard time recovering, but it's likely you 
could with a combination of dd and grep.  Mail files are pretty easily 
identified by their contents.
