[ale] routing problem?

Forgive top-posting.  Also forgive typo.  LAN is on eth0.  Internet is on eth1. 
Packet forwarding is on, as manifested in dmesg and "cat
/proc/sys/net/ipvr/ip_forward".  Gateway is system A.  Lan is systems B,C,D,and
E.
