Ok, tried mii-tool --force and it worked, of course that is only good till
it re-boots. I am going to replace this server soon, so I just added
/sbin/mii-tool --force 100baseTx-FD to rc.local for now and it seems to
work. Is there any reason why this temporary work around should not be
used? I had to do this since the server reboots itself daily via a cron
job.....and yes it is needed...is a counter-strike server with a HIGH
amount of activity so hlds_l needs fresh start daily.
Anyway, thanks for input.

You should be able to use mii-tool to lock the interface. You can get
the status with " mii-tool -v eth0". You should be able to force it with
" mii-tool -force=100BaseTx-FD eth0". I would read the man page before
using it though.
