[ale] midori linux vs. gentoo linux (features not flame!)

Jonathan already suggested Slackware. It's the best choice for a
starting point for really paring down a system to just only what's
needed. 

There are several 1-3 floppy linux distros and a few 2-3 floppy X setup.
Tiny-X comes to mind.
