[ale] identifying serial ports (which is ttyS0, etc.)?

Duh on me. That won't help identifying the physical port now would it?
Stick an external modem on it if you have one, then turn a getty on
each port, until you see the modem lights respond.
Start a getty on one, hook a serial terminal or another box to it and
see which one provides login.
