[ale] RH-7.3 Cleanup Questions

ALErs -

I recently installed RedHat-7.3 and immediately applied a full set of
applicable updates from the RH site, as of JAN 14 2003.

1) I want to play around a bit with my firewall settings. Where should I
look for administrative tools, or is this a manual editing job?

2) When I run 'ls /usr/lib/' I see a _lot_ of apparently unsatisfied links
to libs, generally KDE libraries (blinking reversed red in 'ls' listing).
Typical is:

[jmills at otter jmills]$ ls -l /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.3*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           31 Jan 27 08:51
/usr/lib/libkdecore.so.3 -> kde2-compat/lib/libkdecore.so.3
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           35 Jan 27 08:51
/usr/lib/libkdecore.so.3.0.0 -> kde2-compat/lib/libkdecore.so.3.0.0

When I try to find the targets, I hit permission errors at
/usr/lib/kde2-compat/[bin|lib|..], but when I become 'su', I have
permission, access the directories, and the libraries appear to be in
place:

# ls -l /usr/lib/kde2-compat/lib | grep kdecore
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           19 Jan 27 08:50 libkdecore.so ->
libkdec
ore.so.3.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           19 Jan 27 08:50 libkdecore.so.3 ->
libkd
ecore.so.3.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root      1928992 Apr 13  2002
libkdecore.so.3.0.0

What is going on here? Is it an expected part of the installation?

TIA.
