[ale] Linux on an Apple iBook

A guy here with the Ti G4 notebook was showing me the new accelerated
X11 driver from Apple for the builtin ATI 7500 chip. He was showing me
the abilities for using Pymol to manipulate biochemical structures and
create gorgeous photos of those structures. The user perception of OS-X
is that it is so easy to use. He turned on the firewall and followed
the Wizard setup creating a decent firewall for his client only DHCP
type config. It is just a notebook so he doesn't need complex rules.
The wireless connection just happens invisibly from his perspective when
he clicks the button. So for having a Unix like base with all the
software out there available, the OS-X environment can't be beat from a
user's perspective. From a geek/sysadmin perspective, well that is a
little different. I think you would have to spend some time figuring
out the interfaces for configuring the OS from a CLI to get comfortable.
