I haven't been agressive enough to fully explore the CLI of OS X. FWIW, I
will expound.
Basically, I have yet to find any CLI program that OS X will not support.
Emacs is on the default install, Bash is available. X11 is available,
although I haven't gotten it working (haven't tried).
The one area where I'm largely confused on CLI capabilities on OS X is
configuration, where Apple is attempting (and partially succeeding) to
simplify configuration. Get the relevant O'Reilly book and start wading.
