Presentation:
Jeff will provide an introduction to Linux for the novice and newcomer to
Linux.
Greg Canter will lead a short presentation of replacing Windows on the
everyday user's desktop. A "laundry list" of Linux replacement programs
will be presented to show some of the Open Source equivalents of many
Windows programs.
Bio:
Jeff Hubbs has worked professionally in IT since 1986 with the Federal
government and private sector companies. He installed Linux for the
first time in 1995 and started working with it in earnest in 1998 while
working as Manager of Technical Operations and Customer Support for
Tower Group International. While a Program Manager at NIIT USA, he
implemented Linux and Windows NT systems in support of software
development projects. Today, he performs contract consulting and
recently integrated a Linux machine with a VAX-based Magnetic Resonance
Imaging computer system.
Greg Canter is a programmer in the Kennesaw area who has been using
Linux & OpenBSD for the past year and a half. He has been programming
in the Atlanta area for the last 6 years. He is a firm believer in Open
Source and considers himself extremely lucky to finally be doing
professionally what was once "just a fun hobby".

The latest, most widespread virus? Microsoft end user agreement.
