[ale] DISPLAY DRIVER problem

Can I recommend downloading the source rpms, and rebuilding for your
machine?  I had a really hard time getting these NVIDIA drivers to
install on RH 8 boxes.  I finally downloaded the source rpms, and now I
simply rebuild them after each kernel upgrade.  It doesn't take THAT
much more time on my dual 2 GHz XEON boxes! :)

Can you post the results of "rpm -q kernel"?

I have been having trouble installing display drivers on computer3. 

I have RedHat 8.0 on an AMD XP1600 (1.4Ghz). I updated the box to the
latest 
kernel 2.4.18_18.8.0 using up2date. Next, I downloaded the RPM drivers
from 
NVIDIA as seen below.

When I tried to install them, I got the error below, and now I cannot
get into 
X. Moreover when I try rpm -e the result is that the rpm is not found.
RPM 
-qa results in the same.

Any tips?
