[ale] Rehat 9 ide-scsi

Yes, it actually does if your using the IDE device directly. Since it
sounds like your using ide-scsi emulation then I can't answer since I
haven't looked at a SCSI device with hdparm. Try:
hdparm -I /dev/yourSCSIdev
and see what you get under the dma setting. If it isn't set for
/dev/hdc or /dev/sg0 (whatever your dev is for SCSI) then you can set
it.

hdparm -d1 /dev/sg0

I've never had a problem with burning under Linux or IRIX using
cdrecord. Could be your drive and the XP driver compensates somehow.
What burner do you have?

My biggest problem is getting good burns. I never seem to get
a good burn in Linux like I do in XP. I'll allways get SCSI
retry error messages. "Its the media" people say. If that is the
case why does XP burn on anythng I throw at it. I think it is the fact
the driver may have issues.

Does the dma setting have anything to do with burning. I'm tired of
booting into XP to burn damn it!
