If 3D acceleration is not important, Matrox makes a great 2D card at a
good price. 

It really depends on what you want to do and how much $$ you're willing
to spend. There is an INCREDIBLE wildcat card that blows everyone out of
the water (it has something like 8 GPU's, support 4 monitors at
1600x1200x85Hz) and cost over $2k (drool. They have drivers for XFree86
full hardware OpenGL support).
