The chips used to do 54g can broadcast on military channels somehow so
the specs aren't released by the manufacturers. Anyone using the new g
standard is running XP. Ha! Caught you redhanded there! ;-)

There was a post that maybe by Christmas or early next year enough
hacked code would bring out a driver whether commercial based drivers
were available or not. I have no idea if this is true. The whole issue
is pretty hazy to me as I've read just enough to be confused.

Call Lincoln Durey at EmperorLinux (770-612-1205 or 1-888-651-6686) and
tell him what you want and get a quote. It is worth it since you could
have everything working under Debian when you receive it. They are
great on support now that I've had a chance to use them on the modem
that came on the Dell we have. Well worth the few extra bucks for the
savings of your time. Price your favorite notebook at any of the major
suppliers and then add the number of days to build and configure it so
everything is working. Add the amount you earn per working day times
the number of days it took to the quotes you've gotten and see what the
results are. It is about $400-$600 for Emperor to do their thing above
the cost of the notebook. Maybe less now.

PS. The Gazelle or Rhino sound more like what you want.
