[ale] Trying to make the switch to Linux

I have a Dell Latitude CPt 333 that runs SuSE 8.2 very well with 192Mb 
RAM.  The only caveat that SuSE 8.2 has with this machine is the ACPI 
doesn't work as well as the older APM package for power management.  I 
haven't debugged the ACPI and haven't checked out installation of the 
apm package.  So I can't say if the older package will insert in place 
of the acpi package.  SuSE 8.1 controlled the power management perfectly 
so this is the only glitch I've run into.  You probably won't have major 
problems and just post any that you do run into.  Don't sit for 3 or 4 
hours selecting a bunch of packages from the Yast2 package selection 
menu when running the install routine.  Install the default software and 
then once your up and on the Net do a Yast2 Online Update.  After this 
install the packages as you want or need.  You'll save yourself a bunch 
of time.  Yast2 will let you browse the packages so you can read the 
notes about each package and decide if you want it so you don't have to 
do all of that during the install.
