You need to post on the suse-multimedia-e listserv after joining.  Go to 
the suse.com and look for the listserv signup links.  Also, looking for 
the answer in the SuSE help database online is always a good idea.  I 
haven't setup MIDI on a linux box.  I know that it is used by those who 
have worked thru the installation from reading some of the posts on the 
listserv I've mentioned.  Please check out the links that were posted 
about Linux Sound since there is quite a bit of info about using Linux 
for just what your wanting to do.  Sorry I can't help more and if I get 
a chance to look at MIDI/SuSE docs, I'll post back what I find.  You may 
need to modprobe -r the joystick module and then add a module for doing 
midi.  I just don't know enough to say.
