Wow, I don't have that problem.  I leave my box on with X running 24x7. 
   Here's the output from top:

1191 root      15   0  191M 132M  4960 S    10.9 26.3  4799m X

4799 minutes...  That's just under 80 hours.

I leave mozilla up all the time too.
