it all depends on how long you want to take building it, stage 1 will
recompile everything for your system, stage 2 is an intermediary
compile, and stage 3 is a final base system. After that you have a base
operating system with OpenSSH running, then you just need to run the
emerge proccess for each app you want to add. it will take care of any
dependencies you need for them automaticaly.
best bet is to always run the first with -p to see what its going to try
and install first
