[ale] printing to a cups printer?

CUPS is supposed to automatically register all printers on a LAN for all
CUPs clients installed and running. You must install and run a CUPS
server on your wife's machine to make that functionality available.
That way your wife's machine should see your machine and act as a
client. To configure the queue from your wife's machine you may have to
add it's IP into the cupsd.conf file's security section. Also, you can
put keywords defining the queue as the default printer on your wife's
machine in it's printer.conf file. I am curious if you have to go thru
some gyrations on reboot of your machine to get the USB HP printer's
queue working properly. I have to run ptal-init manually on every boot,
restart CUPS, and enable the queue. A real pain that shouldn't be
there. Something isn't right about the ptal startup script. I am
running SuSE 8.1 and the latest ptal package rpm I could find off the HP
site.
