My favorite mimimalist wm just for them occasion when you want to change apps very quickly is ion. http://modeemi.cs.tut.fi/~tuomov/ion/ It takes a few minutes to set up but when its done you can operate the entire wm via keystrokes, launch apps, close windows, etc. etc. definitely worth a look.
