The tears are because it is now reduced to a single article each month
and it used to be a whole magazine.  I miss it.  (And I'm particularly
fond of it because they featured the ZapStation and interviewed me.)

You are correct, sir.  I agree with your assessment, too, except for the
"attractive" presentation part.  I'd call it "garish", but "chaque un a
son goute".  I got the feeling that the fact that phone calls in England
charge by the  minute has influenced the magazine; there was a lot in
the magazine that you can get by reading freshmeat, lwn, C.O.L.A., and
other online resources.  But if you are changed for that, why not buy a
magazine instead.  Since I've gotten cable modem service, I don't have
any need for the CD, either.  I can download whole CDs in a few hours,
so the fact that LF puts a distribution on the CD every month doesn't
move me.  But it is quate a contrast to LJ in a way that Linux Magazine
is not.
