[ale] OT (way out there): switching from beer to wine....

You can do your research on the Web! Go to:

That won't really tell you what you like, but it will give you a start. 
And get familiar with a store near you that specializes in wine. They 
love to put on tastings that help you discover what you like. Sample the 
same varietal from different countries. The difference can be shocking. 
I hate American Chardonnays, but the Australian ones suit me just fine. 
A New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc will be really different in character from 
California ones and so on. Wine is a whole world that is too large to 
discuss in detail here.
