[ale] [OT] hesitates every 4 seconds

I have a hardware question here. Anybody else seen this? I am rebuilding a
old box for a friend of the family <NO_FLAME_ZONE>, I am putting Win 98 on
it</NO_FLAME_ZONE>. I have two harddisks that are clones of each other(so
I can interchange them). Both have 98. With both HDs, if you run any
program that has perpetual motion(ie games), every four seconds the
motion freezes for about a second or two. Very Strange. The computer does
not respond during these freezes, but it does queue up the events.

This is driving me crazy.  Does this make any sense? Any thoughts?
