My last answer was confusing as I didn't say I was answering your
default route question. But I did. ;-)
route add default gw 192.168.123.254
will result in the netstat -rn output that you posted. The default
keyword means 0.0.0.0 or a packet going to anywhere outside of the
networks with a specific route known to the kernel.
