[ale] rsync and link files

When I first started thinking about this I was considering using dd, but
opted not to because it just doesn't sound like a good idea to do that on a
mounted filesystem. But now I was thinking I can get away with umounting my
/boot and doing the dd and then using the rsync of the / fs. I never
considered a combo of them until now. I will try that out now.

Doing just a copy of the MBR without doing it of the /boot will not work
because I can't guarantee the location of my zImage file on the rsynced fs.
But if I dd the MBR and the /boot fs then it will be in the right place.

Thanks.

rsync won't make the hard drive boot sector on the copy as it's not part
of any filesystem. You can do it with dd, but you will need to dig up
the size of the master boot record so you know what size to tell dd to
work with.

A better (easier) solution is to chroot the new drive and run lilo from
the new drive.

But if sda croaks, and you try to boot from sdb, you will run into
problems unless you change scsi ID's as the new drive will be( still)
sdb and fstab won't match up.
