[ale] Getting Cdwriter tow Work in SuSe 7.3

Have performed numerous procedures to get this thing
to work.

I'm able to play music and read cd's but system
doesn't recognize my plextor unit as a cdwriter.

I set up ide-scsi emulation
 set up the probe 
 ln to scdev0
edited etc/fstab
and every procedure i've been able to find but the
writer still isn't recognized as a cdwriter.

Any ideas.
