[ale] Authentication failed and ssh_host_key

The X startup scripts are divided into parts that run as root and then
pass control to the user to complete the rest of the scripts. Sounds
like you aren't getting the console passed to you and the Xinitrc script
can't run. So look in the X startup info for the exact procedure that
the scripts use. You probably don't have permissions on something set
right in the X startup scripts. Or the console on login is not released
to you as a user but is still owned by root. I just guessing based on a
problem I was working on and some docs I read. SuSE has in their help
files a little run down on X startup and how the scripts run.
