[ale] Problems installing mandrake

Anyone else having trouble with the Mandrake 8.2 installs?
My laptop (Sony Picturebook PCG-C1VN) craps out after partitioning. I've
tried pre-partitioning it before install and using their partitioning
step, both put up an error (i didn't right it down, yes, i know) and
won't let me continue. On my desktop I get to installing the packages
and every package (i think it's every package) puts up an error when
trying to install the rpm. Wondering if I might have gotten a bad copy
or something (MD5 checksums seem to check out).
