There is a perl module that does this, although I've not used it, some 
folks in my group used it to do just what you're looking to do.  I know 
that's not much help, but let me know if you can't locate it, I'll dig a 
bit more...

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
