It's not used often anymore.

it's kind of an opposite of -v in that it covers
screen with rows and rows of of useless text, instead
of usefull text. very appropriate for the occasion
though.

$ tar --feather teather.test.tar *.*

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\/\/\\/\/\/\/\/\\/\\/\/\/
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\/
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\//\/\/\/\\/\/\

and so on.
