[ale] Software Items

Is the cdr scsi or ide?  What's the interface to the scanner?  If the 
scanner has a proprietary scsi card that came with it, it will not 
likely work with Linux.

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
