WRT Interix, I don't know if anything has changed with this product in the 
last year but I eval'ed last year after having a bunch of MS folks in and 
listening to a guy with excellent Unix credential rant about how "It just 
works!".  Our lead MS consultant installed it and it just never worked at all, 
could not even load ksh.  Called him up and he kicked the issue up as high as 
he could then just stopped calling back.  FWIW this was on a 4way IBM 
Netfinity with 2 gigs of ram that the same consultant installed with Win2K.  
Some of my co-horts who still support MS products mentioned it in passing 
recently, according to them it still just flops on the floor.
