[ale] speaking of cdrs...

Actually, I am just now starting to try burning on Linux. The problem I am
seeing is that when I try to burn an ISO image (the RH7.2 enigma disc1
image), xcdroast throws no errors, but the CD won't boot or allow me to read
anything from it.

?

Best regards,

No flames, I've stoped using Linux to burn. It was strange. I could burn
in RedHAt 7.0 but wout
get SCSI timeout errors in 7.1. I had to dual boot to burn. I decided to
just make iso images in Linux and burn in Windows.

While were on the subject of cdrs...

I've had a Philips cdr working fine for a while now. Of lately though,
when I attempt to burn a cd, it locks my box up with a kernel panic.
I'm suspecting maybe the drive's gone bad on me. Anyone else had any
experiences with a cdr going bad? Problem is, I've upgraded kernels as
well as dists. since I burned last, so I don't know whether it's a
kernel issue, dists. issue or just plain bad hardware.

Any info on similar experiences would be appreciated. Or, experiences
with drives going bad that don't have the same (drastic) effect....
