[ale] samba 2.2 and win9x clients

Check your encrypted passwords setting in smb.conf and the encrypted
passwords status of your various Win machines.  NT4 SP3 and above
encrypts, Win95 generally does not (but might past a certain revision),
Win98 generally does.
