[ale] DriveRead SeekComplete etc...

We have seen problems like this go away *sometimes* if you turn of DMA
access with the 'hdparm' command, but it can also be a sign of a failing
drive.  I don't think a repartition or reformat would fix it unless it
were some sort of low-level format, which I have never done on an IDE
drive.
