[ale] ntop questions

Greetings Alers!

I'm trying to find a tool that lets me monitor bandwidth on my linux
router, and ntop has come up over and over again.  It looks really
interesting and I'm going thru the documentation now to find out what
all it tells me about my systems, but I get very skittish running things
that have their own web servers.  Obviously I can set up firewall rules
to allow access only from the IPs I'm going to be coming from, but I'm
wondering about overall security of ntop.  Anyone have any thoughts?

I've thought about trying to script something with intop, but I don't
want to waste a lot of time if the web bit is reasonably safe and other
people have had success with it.
