[ale] Configuring 3COM NIC

send the output of
ifconfig
ifconfig eth0
ifconfig eth0 up
My hunch is that the previous eth0 card info is in /etc/modules.conf or
/etc/rc.d/rc.local.
Ignore the failure, that happends during bootup, you can always bring it
up manually.
