[ale] rpm dependency confusion

No, but I think I'll take that approach on my next full build.  What I'm
trying to do is create and maintain a system through a install process,
rather than a compile process.  src rpms don't really give me that, but
they would certainly encapsulate the installation process better than a
tarball solution.
