[ale] $mail?

I set $MAIl to /var/spool/mail/nomad on my local machine.  It's still
delivering mail to ~/Mailbox per qmail, even though I'm running sendmail.
I did a "grep Mailbox /etc/mail/*" and nothing came up...  Why is it still
putting mail in ~/Mailbox?
