This is the trial version of VMware. There is no cost-free version of their
proeduct. Its a great product for running windows under windows but performance
is very slow and its got some gaps in its features.

You can probably find some docs on the www.vmware.com website. Otherwise, I'm
at a loss.

Its a matter of preference really. Kinda like asking which color is better,
blue or green? My gut instinct is that KDE and GNOME are the same as far as
user interfaces go. Switching to either one from CDE isn't going to be two
hard. to be quite honest, XFCE is much closer to what you are used to than
either GNOME or KDE but its not shipped with any distros to my knowledge.
