I spent most of the night trying to get this particular beast to work on a
friend's box. It's mostly a vanilla RH 6.0 box, but with the XFree86
3.3.5 updates and a newly-compiled 2.2.12 kernel.
The monitor itself appears to be fixed at 1024x768x16, and it'a a
beautiful image - when it works. Unfortunately, it's a digital screen,
and came with its own grafix card based on the Trident TGUI9660 chip.
Hey, no problem, SVGA server, right? Bzzt. After much hacking of the
modelines and whatnot.. I managed to et an image at 1024x768x16 @60Hz.
The machine crashes while it's firing up X, usually at various points n
the "Loading enlightenment" screen. If I have it set to anything other
than 60Hz, the machine crashes HARD (not even keyboard lights) as soon as
it tries to change to grafix mode.
I suspect the problem is with the card rather than the panel itself.
running XFREE86_SVGA -probeonly works just fine, and it appears to use a
65Mhz dot clock at that resolution and identifies the card properly.
MAG, understandably, is clueless. They only provide Win'9x drivers
anyway, and the monitor needs that card due to a funky connector.
Any ideas? I haven't found anyhing useful on the web just yet.
