[ale] eth0/tap0/lo question

Everything seems to be working fine, it is just different since I upgraded
from RH5.2 to RH6.1. When I run the 'ifconfig' command, I used to see
three devices, (eth0,tap0,lo) before dial-in to Internet, and then
(eth0,ppp0,lo) while I was connected. (Notice, tap0 disappeared and ppp0
appeared in the list). Now ppp0 appears and disappears when connected or
not, but the tap0 devices always shows. Like I said, it's working just
fine, but I was just wondering.....
