It may have nothing to do with linux at all... Are you using the same modem that you were using on the original dial in solution?  If it is a specific brand of modems that can not connect, it sounds like autonegotiation between the two is not happening.  Try forcing a 2400/no compression connect and see if it keeps the connection alive.  Then go up to 9600, then to 14400, etc etc.... Configure the modem itself (at commands) and save each configuration. Send an ATZ then have somebody call in.  Note which speed they connect at and what flavor of compression (via the modem's history, not linux)

Also, Set the client machine to dial in at 19200, and see if you get a 14400 connect... Then go up to 57600 and see if you get a 28.8/33.6 connect.

What kind of modems are you using in your RAS pool?  and is it a bank or is seperates off serial ports?

If you are using a USR product for the RAS, I can help you with any of the S registers and AT commands specific to the USR line.

Hello all,

I am trying to setup a dialin pppd server using
RedHat 6.0 with the pppd 2.3.7 program.

I have some users who can dial in with no problem,
but others, notably USRobotic Sportster 33.6 owners
have trouble.

Can anyone help me figure out what may or many not
be going on here?  I have had a dial in server in the
past which worked with these users, so I know that
it is possible, and their client configurations have
not changed.
